The ESLA Financial Model

We want every family to know that regardless of their financial circumstances, an ESLA education is completely within reach. ESLA covers 45% of the overall cost of tuition with need-based financial aid, a nearly unparalleled commitment in LA independent schools. This means that seventy percent of our student body receives some form of aid, with many families receiving nearly full scholarships. This allows the school to recruit and enroll the brightest, most dedicated students from all walks of life.

Each year we enroll a significant number of students who know what it means to live in the most trying financial circumstances. Our model is founded upon the belief that the best educational tool for any young person is the collaboration and camaraderie of peers from different backgrounds—peers who have stories and perspectives to share, the stuff of life that simply cannot be gleaned from a textbook. Because our student body is so diverse, the education ESLA students receive inside and outside the schoolhouse is truly unique in Los Angeles.

Applying for Financial Aid:

The Episcopal School of Los Angeles uses the National Association of Independent Schools’ School & Student Services (SSS by NAIS) platform to process our applications for financial aid. Please visit the SSS by NAIS parent portal and either login or create a new account to complete your Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). After creating an individual profile, you will be able to add ESLA as a school to which you would like your application sent. Our school code is 147592. All application requirements and information can be found on the SSS website.

Please do not send any information or documentation (such as tax returns) to ESLA; all required documents must be sent directly to SSS. Your financial aid application will remain incomplete, and will therefore not be considered, until SSS has received all required documentation. In order to complete the financial aid application, each family will need to have completed their 2017 tax returns. Please keep this in mind while gathering documentation and completing your application.

If you have any questions at all about financial aid at ESLA, please contact our Executive Director, Kristen Johnson, at, and she will be more than happy to assist you through the process.
